The Statistics and Data Science Faculty-Led Program in the UK offers students a unique opportunity to explore statistical theory, big data analytics, and computational innovation across London and Birmingham, a global cornerstone of quantitative research and artificial intelligence.
Over 8 days and 7 nights, participants will engage with world-class research institutes, multinational tech corporations, and leading universities, gaining an international perspective on how data science and AI are reshaping industries and society. The program blends academic engagement, immersive field studies, and cultural exploration for a comprehensive study abroad experience.
Through expert visits and industry access, students will connect quantitative theory to real-world application. Academic highlights include a guided visit to the UCL Centre for Data Science, focused on extracting knowledge from complex datasets through mathematical and statistical modeling, and sessions at the University of Birmingham’s Schools of Mathematics and Computer Science. A visit to the Alan Turing Institute — the UK’s national institute for data science and AI — brings students face to face with the organization leading fundamental research into the field’s most pressing real-world challenges. A stop at Bloomberg’s London offices further connects students to how data and technology drive global financial decision-making.
Beyond the research and industry visits, students will enjoy a Thames River sightseeing cruise, panoramic views from the Sky Garden, a walking tour tracing London’s evolution into a modern global powerhouse, and a tour of Birmingham’s historic canal network and smart city landscape.
