The Veterinary Program in Ireland offers students a unique opportunity to engage with veterinary professionals, explore European agricultural frameworks, and gain global perspectives on animal welfare and husbandry.
Over 10 days, participants will visit leading veterinary facilities, meet with industry experts, and explore clinical care, production agriculture, and livestock research across Dublin and Cork. The program combines academic learning, site visits, professional networking, and cultural exploration, providing students with a well-rounded understanding of veterinary services in an international context.
Through interactive workshops, guest lectures, and hands-on experiences, students will gain insight into veterinary clinical skills, animal handling, equine excellence, and agricultural regulations. Visits to organizations such as the UCD Veterinary Hospital, UCD Lyons Farm, University College Cork, and Fota Wildlife Park will provide a deeper understanding of animal behaviour, wildlife conservation breeding programs, and diagnostic imaging techniques . The program also includes opportunities for students to engage with veterinary practitioners, discuss regulatory frameworks with the Veterinary Council of Ireland, and explore how animal health systems operate across different social and agricultural contexts.
In addition to the academic and professional experiences, students will enjoy cultural immersion through guided tours, site visits, and local excursions, including a scenic walking tour of Cork’s English Market, visits to the historic maritime port town of Cobh and Blarney Castle, and a farewell dinner to reflect on their experiences.
